JULY 2008 ı goodreading 27 bookings The famous M.I.L.K photographs that have been re-published in the ‘Grace series’ of books are being brought to life on the big screen as part of the official World Youth Day Festival Programme that is taking Sydney by stor m and the national Hoyts ‘Faith on Film Festival’.There will be ten-minute screenings in Hoyts cinemas nationally, providing an ‘imaginative combination of the Grace images, text and music, along with interviews with youth who offer their personal reaction to the photographs.The exhibition represents a wide diversity of ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds from six continents.’ The Hoyts ‘Faith on Film Festival’, with the Grace exhibition being screened as a pre-show event prior to each movie, will be on at selected Hoyts cinemas including The Entertainment Quarter, Blacktown (NSW), Belconnen (ACT), Carousel (WA),Tea Tree Plaza (SA), and Eastland (Vic). Books to film being screened as part of the Festival include; Faith Like Potatoes, based on the inspiring true story by Angus Buchan, Amazing Grace based on the biography of William Wilberforce by Eric Metaxas, Lord Save us From Your Followers which is a documentary based on Dan Merchant’s book, One Night with the King starring Peter O’Toole and Omar Sharif The Ten Commandments with the voice talent of Sir Ben Kingsley and starring Christian Slater as Moses, Trade, a story about a 13-year-old girl who is kidnapped by sex traffickers in Mexico City and Walking on Water, the amazing story of two young kids who embark on the trip of a lifetime. Session times for these films, along with individual Grace exhibition session times, can be viewed at www.hoyts.com.au. Other book to film releases in July include Wanted, which is based on the graphic novel series by Mark Millar and illustrated by J G Jones.The film stars Morgan Freeman, James McAvoy and Angelina Jolie. The festivals around Australia keep coming with the Byron Bay Writers’ Festival kicking off from 25 July. It’s a very popular festival due not only to its content but its wonderful location.
