Good Reading : July 2008
6 good reading ı JULY 2008 your say Dear gr I picked up your magazine for the first time this month, and was happy to find that your first part on Australian Classics was on a book I had to read for Children’s Literature at uni: Seven Little Australians. I read the article with joy and am going to show my lecturer. I am looking forward to reading this magazine regularly, and hope to find many new reads within the pages. Ashleigh Green Point NSW Dear gr I am writing a belated thank you for the copy of The Art of Love. This came before my first subscription copy arrived – so it was a lovely surprise. I’ve been reading all my life, and first found your magazine at the library and hated to have return it. is a great leasure now o receive my wn copy the smell nd feel of tasIopen he wrapping nd take a quick flip through is a real delight. It has broadened my horizons even more and now I have a book list, longer than before, constantly in my library bag. If I had listed all the books I’d ever read – it would make a book in itself – but I guess that applies to most of your readers. Thank you again for a wonderful publication. Bev Hemer Mansfield Qld Dear gr Susan Wyndham’s book Life in His Hands (gr April) is a tribute to two very special and talented men. I’ve never forgotten that episode of Australian Story when I first saw the brilliant young concert pianist Aaron McMillan, heard his beautiful music, and watched his courageous struggle to hold on to life. And there was Dr Charlie Teo, his much loved and skilled neurosurgeon fighting just as hard to give Aaron the life he so deserved. Though Aaron lost his fight for life, the story of this exceptional young man and his compassionate surgeon will live on in Susan Wyndham’s book and inspire all who read it. Thank you gr for featuring this publication in the April issue. Judith Caine Donvale Vic Dear gr Being an avid reader of your magazine, I wanted to contact you and thank you for the pages on audio books. Being vision impaired, it is wonderful tomakealistoftheonesI would like to read and then ask Vision Australia if it is possible to get those books in. I look forward to looking out for your latest copy when someone takes me out to the mall for coffee. Many thanks for understanding that there is a need of vision impaired people to know about the new talking books that are out in the local book stores for us to purchase. I’m still waiting for Santa to leave me the Alexander McCall Smith Collection, which I saw in your great magazine. Maybe for my birthday … Helen Willett Thornton NSW Dear gr After being ntroduced to gr by my local librarian, now eagerly nticipate each issue.
