GOLDNER STRING QUARTET & PIANIST IAN MUNRO Encounter piano quintets like you have never heard before when five dynamic Australian musicians unite. The Goldner String Quartet is renowned internationally, having appeared regularly at London's Wigmore Hall. In 2009 BBC Music Magazine judged their recording of Ernest Bloch 'one of the year's top three releases' and the International Society for Contemporary Music refers to them as 'Australia's greatest string quartet'. They have toured extensively to the USA, Korea, Finland, France, Italy, New Zealand and across Australia. On this tour they will be performing Beethoven, Dvoˇrák, Brahms, Szymanowski and the World Premiere of a Piano Quintet by Ian Munro himself. SYDNEY PHILHARMONIA CHOIRS -- A NIGHT OF FRENCH MUSIC Sydney Philharmonia Choirs presents a night of sublime French music to delight your ears. The reflective quality of the Fauré Requiem will be exquisitely contrasted with the opulence of de Lalande's De profundis clamavi. Fauré's Requiem captivates listeners with its purity, simplicity and ethereal elegance. Evoking all the power and elegance of long-ago Versailles, Sydney Philharmonia's Chamber Singers and Orchestra will eloquently capture de Lalande's gifts for melody, harmony and nobility of expression.
