For over 40 years I've been buying unloved wooden boats, doing them up and then selling them. This hobby has led to a major involvement in restoration of wooden boats with the Sydney Heritage Fleet. What sort of books do you like to read? As a child I enjoyed a lot of the 'Biggles' books by Captain W E Johns and the English Champion magazines. What are some of your favourite books? Lately I've enjoyed The Book Thief by Markus Zusak and laughed at Up a Tree in the Park at Night with a Hedgehog by P Robert Smith. Tatyana Kovalyov – Advertising Manager (smart, sassy, super saleswoman) Tell us a bit about you. I love to cook and entertain.Walking in the early morning sets up my day. I am working up to running (sort of!). Oh, and I collect eggs -- wooden, crystal, glass, ceramic, painted, you name it! They live in bowls and containers in most rooms of my home. What sort of books do you like to read? I adore historical novels, especially those written in the first person. Biographies also find a place in my reading because people's lives inspire me with their challenges and growth, helping me to understand that we all live our stories whether we write them down or not. Last but not least are crime novels and thrillers. What's your favourite book of all time? People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks. I enjoy the way the story moves seamlessly through different times and cultures. It brought to mind Shylock's quote: 'If you prick us, do we not bleed?' It shows that underneath our beliefs we are all human. READERS' LIFE Tim Graham – Deputy Editor (word wrangler and photo snapper) Tell us a bit about you. They're usually non-fiction -- about language, history, popular sociology, religion, atheism and photography. What is your favourite book? The Missionary Position: Mother Teresa in theory and practice by Christopher Hitchens.
