Why that book? It’s won so many awards, I thought it’d be a good read. What’s it about? The story centres on the relationship between a 33-year-old man and a 17-year- old girl. They meet in Japan, post WWII, post apocalypse almost. The man is in Japan to record the effects of the bomb on Hirsohima. The girl is the daughter of an Australian officer. She spends much of her time looking after her brother who has an incurable disease. Has it lived up to your expectations? Well it’s not an easy read! It’s quite dense and I’m not sure I’m in the right mood for it just now. Would you recommend it to others? That’s a hard one. I guess I’d recommend they give it a go. trains > planes > buses > ferries Plane from Sydney, NSW to London, UK Belle from Canberra, ACT What are you reading?
