If you've got an itch, you have to scratch! Timpkin discovers this as he sits beneath the fru-fru trees gleefully gobbling his cheese. He gets an itch. A terrible twitch That naggles and niggles Like fleas with giggles! It's really a frightfully, feverish patch ... And he desperately wants someone to give him a scratch! Feather McDoo, the cockatoo, is willing to help, but then the itch jumps onto her. Possum Pie scratches Feather McDoo, Hedgehog scratches Possum Pie and so it goes on down the animal line. But who is going to scratch the last in this queue? It looks like a bit of teamwork is needed. This book is such fun. The rhyming verse is perfect for reading aloud and the use of wonderful, crazy made-up words just adds to the hilarity. And this time they're out to save the world. A ginormous meteorite is headed towards Earth and if it hits that will be the end of our planet, and worse, the end of the aliens' underpants supply. Our clever aliens are hatching a crazy plan but they will need everybody's undies to put this plan into action. This colourful and clever rhyming ook is the latest in the 'Aliens in Underpants' series. Produced as a board book with a most appealing sparkly cover, it will have the whole family giggling. ★★★★ Simon and Schuster $14.99 Age guide 4+ More! Peter Schössow It's such a windy day.You button up your coat, tie on your scarf but what about your hat? The wind whips it away and you give chase. But the wind is so strong. It picks you up and you fly -- past the church steeple, over the ocean, across the green fields. Like a bird. Like an aeroplane. Then BUMP, just as you are enjoying yourself, down you come, back onto the sand. Right in front of your hat. This gorgeous little book with its exquisite illustrations conjures up the utter joy of flying. There are no words until the very last page where our delighted free flyer jumps onto a box and shouts his request to the wind, 'AGAIN!' ★★★★★ Gecko Press $14.99 Age guide 4 to infinity 10 Little Hermit Crabs Lee Fox Illustrated by Shane McG You don't see quite as many her mit crabs on our beaches any more. Perhaps some children have never seen these funny little crustaceans that bor row other creatures' shells and scuttle around in them on the sand. But there are always dangers lurking for an unwary her mit crab as the little ones in our story discover. Screeching seagulls, tangled seaweed, crayfish pots and even little children pose a threat until 10 little her mit crabs can very quickly be reduced to one. This is another fun counting book in rhyming verse that is begging to be read aloud. The littlies will love the repetition and the bold and playful illustrations. And just to set your mind at rest, those nine little hermit crabs with a knack for getting into trouble all come back safe and sound. ★★★ Allen & Unwin $19.99 Age guide 3+
