Metro Girl by Janet Evanovich Why that book? This author’s books always make me laugh. What’s it about? A misadventure where the bad guys chase the good guys. All at a racy pace. Has it lived up to your expecta- tions? It certainly has. It’s a thoroughly entertaining read. Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I’d recommend ers who enjoy this type of crime novel. Bus from Hokitika to Greymouth, New Zealand Paul from London, gland reading? Great Expectations by Charles Dickens Why that book? I thought it was time to give Dickens a go. What’s it about? The struggles of an orphan named Pip in nineteenth-century England. Are you enjoying it? Yes, it has a good plot. Would you recommend it to others? Yes, but you need to concentrate. Coach from Christchurch to Twizel, New Zealand Pauline from Yelverton, Devon, England What are you reading? Provincial Daughter by RwM Dashwood Why that book? I really enjoyed Diary of a Provincial Lady by EM Delafield, which was about life in Devon in the 1920s and ’30s. This is by EM Delafield’s daughter. What’s it about? Day-to-day life in an English village in the 1950s. Are you enjoying it? Yes. The style is very individual. t’s amusing, revealing and has sharp observations. Would you recommend it to others? Yes. It s good to dip in and out of; it’s well written and easy to read. On MV Friendship, moored overnight in Miford Sound, New Zealand Les from Lutwyche, Queensland, Australia What are you reading? War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy that book? I read it years ago and I’ve always wanted to re-visit it. This holiday seemed a good opportunity to do so. What’s it about? A Russian family’s life in the 1800s. Are you enjoying it? Yes, it’s extremely well written.
