APRIL 2006 ı goodreading 25 writer’s house The sweeping staircase is lit by elegant arched Georgian windows. The spacious ground-floor rooms now house an art gallery and exhibition space. The house looks onto the River Liffey, now graced by the James Joyce bridge, designed by Santiago Calatrava and opened on Bloomsday in 2004. The beautiful leadlights at either side of the front door have been replaced, but all the fanlights have still to be made and installed. Brendan Kilty is the Dublin barrister who has restored James Joyce House to its former glory.
