Over 4500 Australia Post stores recently received copies of The History of Sexuality, The Delta of Venus and Lolita, but all were returned to the manufacturers rather than being put up for sale. Australia Post denies that any complaints were received about the books, and says that the books were returned because they didn’t suit the standard, middle-of-the- road product selection of the stores. book trivia Compiled by Elizabeth McAnulty Manga becomes respectable Tokyo's Meiji University has established a new library which, by 2015, will contain more than two million manga comics, drawings, cartoons and video games. The university's aim is to promote serious academic study of this Japanese story. The big and the beautiful Mills & Boon have coined the genre 'bigger chick lit' but it's about more than just weight. Authors like Jennifer Weiner (see gr August 2009) and Mink Elliott (The Pi**ed-off Parents' Club, published in January), are creating chick-lit heroines with more realistic physiques and less focus on finding happiness in a size 8. 'These books are spearheading the revolution towards a more realistic perception of real women in easy- reading literature,' said Elliott recently. 'This new genre is proof that women are finally learning to love each other and themselves -- warts and all.'
