Good Reading : November 2017
GOOD READING NOVEMBER 2017 9 Roberts. I am now reading the follow-up, The Mountain Shadow. It’s a rip-roaring read about human frailty, resilience with vibrant characters. I hope they make a movie of it. What a dull world it would be without books, and I mean real ones, ones that you can turn the pages, feel the covers and pages and really enjoy, like friends. Sheila Williamson, South Fremantle WA Hi Good Reading I just finished reading The Rise and Fall of D.O.D.O., as recommended by your magazine. I loved it. Thank you. Vicki Tonkin, Narara NSW Dear Rowena I have been somewhat disappointed to have received my September copy of gr a little later than usual the last few months. I did call to complain and was informed that it had left many weeks previously. A replacement copy was promptly sent with thanks. The September issue arr ived a month later. Again, October arrived late and as I was already aware of the date you posted it in September I calculated that it took over 20 days for my copy to arrive from Sydney. I called my local Australia Post office to complain but was politely told that there is nothing they can do. They can’t track the mail so nothing to do for them. I will have to quietly suffer. A friend suggested maybe they may be overloaded through posting out same sex marriage forms. I think it’s a monopoly and they simply don’t care. I know that I am not the only gr lover that is having withdrawal symptoms. Emily Foster, Mentone Vic From ed: Emily, we are so frustrated for you and all our wonderful subscribers. This has been a constant ongoing problem for many months as we lovingly place Good Reading in the hands of Australia Post each month only have it to lie somewhere, we know not where, for weeks until it gets eventually delivered. We have complained bitterly to Australia Post. The answer has been that they have escalated it to the highest levels, and if there is a reason it has been delayed, they will find it. Be assured we are working to bring back the date it’s posted even earlier so that 20 days will still mean it reaches you by the beginning of the month.
