GOODREADINGMAGAZINE.COM.AU GOOD READING JUNE 2015 16 Your mother was an English teacher and your father a newspaper correspondent. Did their careers influence what you read? Our house was always full of books, as my mother was a voracious reader – and still is. So a love of books was instilled in me when I was very young. What sparked your interest in acting? When I was in Grade 5 and living in Moonee Ponds in Melbourne, I had a friend in my class whousedtogotoa drama class on Saturday mornings. I went along with him, and by the time ME MY SHELF I the class was over I knew it was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Your new play, North by Northwest, is based on a classic Hitchcock movie. Why did you want to be in this play? I wanted to work with director Simon Phillips again. Why should readers come along to see it? To see Mount Rushmore. If given the opportunity to have a dinner party for six and invite anyone you choose, from any time or place, who would your guests be? I would invite six close friends from London I haven’t seen for seven years since moving back to Sydney. Where do you do most of your reading?
