COFFEE TABLE 1 Sea cucumbers use their tube feet to collect edible particles from the seabed. In this image, a sea cucumber is joined by some colourful sea stars. The eyes of mantis shrimps can be swivelled in every direction and are among the most sophisticated eyes of any animal. The individual hexagonal units making up the compound eye of a parasitoid wasp. Compound eyes made up of many discrete units are characteristic features of many arthropods (unidentified chalcid). Not every animal has feathers, fur, fins or scales.
