47 (coffeetable) (GoodReading) MAJORCA, Spain This pool of generous proportions is appropriate to its country residence. The Italian style pavilion with its thick stone walls and curved hollows provides a welcome respite from the soaring summer temperatures while the comfortable wicker chairs invite relaxed conversation or an afternoon siesta. PRINGLE, Portugal The surrounding landscape of this pool seems flattened by the wind, giving the impression that everything happens at ground level. In the same way this pool adapts to the terrain and doesn’t stick out. Very few elements are used as nowadays decoration is no longer a symbol of luxury and simplicity is more valued. MARRAKECH, Morocco Located in Marrakech’s Palmeral this pool incorporates ancient ruins. The walls of the ruins were restored in the traditional manner using sun dried bricks, covered by hand with unfired earth and finally smeared with vegetable oils. The result is an evocative sculpture bordering the pool which perfectly inte- grates with the surrounding environment. from DREAM POOLS Text © Katie Sulliver Photography © Pere Planells Published by Atrium (distributed by Bookwise), rrp $79.95
